Do you have no experience in the maritime sector, but do have experience with hydraulics in another sector? And does the shipping world appeal to you (whatever it is!)? Don't let this opportunity sail by!
Do you think this role is perfect for you? Apply now! De Waal is working exclusively with Mijn Prolinq to fill this vacancy. Would you like to know more? Please contact Leendert Romijn on 06-13971295 or send your CV to leendert@mijnprolinq.nl.
In the position of apprentice turner/machinist, we will teach you how to work in our modern machine factory and you will become part of a motivated team of machinists, all of whom are among the best in the maritime industry. The work is varied, involving both new construction and repair projects in the shipping industry.
You will work in our modern machine factory and will be assigned to perform all types of machining work on the various modern machines that our company has at its disposal. You will be assigned your own lathe. The work mainly consists of turning propeller shafts, rudder stocks, propeller shaft sleeves, wear sleeves, bearing sleeves and all other turning work. However, there is also a lot of diverse repair work. In short, everything that is necessary to complement high-quality products and assemble them into durable propeller shaft and rudder systems.
The machining work falls into the category of heavy/large turning, so you will learn to work with large machines. Ultimately, you will be able to work accurately from drawings and turn long shafts. You will also learn everything about modern CNC control systems such as Heidenhain and Fagor. You are flexible, service-oriented and willing to work overtime.
You can apply if you have just left school or if you see yourself as a future professional. We would be happy to train you internally and turn you into a true professional. You are very welcome at De Waal!
A pleasant working environment and a fun working atmosphere in the dynamic world of shipping. We offer a good salary and a year-end bonus. The work is varied and offers many challenges. We provide personal guidance and have good training and development opportunities. In short, a great job in an innovative, reliable and solid family business!

I am a (maritime) Service Engineer. It's a kind of "ANWB for ships / waterway maintenance". When a ship has a malfunction or needs maintenance, I go there, find the malfunction, solve the problem and make sure the skipper can continue sailing satisfactorily. Sometimes it's a fishing vessel, other times a seagoing vessel or superyacht. I have seven colleagues in the service department and my specialism is hydraulics. I usually work in the Netherlands and occasionally spend a few days abroad. Once every four weeks, I'm on call for breakdowns. Furthermore: I carry out repairs, commissioning and inspections on steering machines, mobile cranes and other hydraulic systems; I am in direct contact with the customer and am the 'face' of our organisation;
