Do you need a complete propeller shaft installation, or just a new shaft? Do you want to bushing the propeller shaft or can we provide a laser alignment? It's all possible, for everything that sails. De Waal is the propeller shaft specialist in the Netherlands.

For shafts of up to twelve metres in length, we do not turn our hand away. We supply our shafts complete with bearings in a pre-assembled stern tube. A unique system. Without boring on board, we position the shaft accurately and straight using laser equipment. This can be done at our ship lift or at any inland or maritime shipyard of your choice. That is flexible, that is De Waal.

From raw shaft to unique propeller shaft

The manufacturing process of a propeller shaft starts with the engineering department. Based on the ship, engine and propeller data, we make strength calculations and draw your propeller shaft in 3d with precise dimensional tolerances. In the logistics hall at the port, dozens of raw shafts, of all diameters, are in stock. Most have already been stamped by a classification society.

Modern

Direct packing, no delivery times. Further down in the machine shop are modern lathes on which we machine shafts on a daily basis. From short to super-long. For two or even three bearing points. Specialised and expertly trained personnel work intensively on the precise dimensions of your propeller shaft.

Prefab montage

In the assembly department, the coupling flange and marine propeller are fitted to the tapered propeller shaft ends. We want to make sure nothing can go wrong during onboard assembly. After this, the prefeb stern tube is fitted with bearings and flanges. Finally, it is the turn of our fitting crew. With years of experience in all types of ships, they align everything, fit the stern tube and assemble the propeller shaft. They complete your installation with seals, coupling flange, propeller shaft brake and, of course, the propeller. Exactly according to plan, until you are satisfied!
