New direction for 87-year-old family business. We are proud and confident to announce that Jacco de Waal has been appointed director of De Waal Machinefabriek with effect from 2 April.

Jacco represents the fourth generation in the family business, which was founded in 1938 by his great-grandfather Co De Waal and has been in existence for almost ninety years. With his appointment, the day-to-day management returns to familiar family hands. As the new director, Jacco brings fresh energy, decisiveness, technical knowledge and a strong connection to the company.

At the same time, we are saying goodbye to Albert Visser. We thank him for his dedication and wish him all the best for the future.

Shipbuilding and industry

Jacco (24) grew up next to the company's harbour and was actively involved from an early age. He was brought up with all the work and products. After secondary school, he studied mechanical engineering in Breda. With internships at Koedood, Asto and Holland Shipyards, he knows the maritime world inside out. Thanks to his previous directorship at De Waal Metaaltechniek, the family is now active in both shipbuilding and industry.

Family DNA

With Jacco's appointment, Marco de Waal and his sister Anneke Hoogendoorn-de Waal have made a conscious decision to strengthen the family DNA: short lines of communication, strong commitment and steady leadership for the long term.
