The right solution
An interior seal consists of a number of bronze sealing rings, each featuring a cavity containing an elastic, V-shaped sealing ring. This rubber sealing ring rotates with the propeller shaft, providing an axial seal against the bronze sealing ring. Depending on the direction in which the sealing rings face, the system works to either keep out water or keep in lubricant. Interior seals have all the sealing rings facing in the same direction to create an optimised seal with several safety stages. At De Waal, leakproof really means leakproof.
Fits any vessel
In addition to finding use in newly constructed ships, Stuwa® seals offer the perfect solution to leakage problems with existing grease-lubricated systems without the need to reconstruct your existing layout. Upgrading consists of removing the old grease packing and replacing it with our sealing rings, which are simply pressed in place against the propeller shaft bushing using the packing press, which is supplied machined to size. Any shipyard is familiar with our system and will be happy to order and install it for you.
