With highly effective centre rudder

The triple rudder system consists of a set of three rudders for each propeller. Two of these are practically identical, mirrored outer rudders. Between them a relatively small, short centre rudder is installed. The combination of three rudders with each propeller improves both efficiency and manoeuvrability.

Rudder dynamics

The small, short centre rudder acts like a spoiler that counters the rotation from the propeller wash, increasing the thrust of the water flow. In combination with the relatively wide location of the outer rudders, the system generates practically no drag when running straight ahead, optimising efficiency. The advanced configuration of the centre rudder ensures the best possible result. Better control. Less fuel. And less time!

The best combination

In combination with our matching Triple® steering system you will be getting one of the best steering systems known to the shipping industry. When steering, a small deflection of the centre rudder already creates a considerable deflection of the propeller wash. At that point the main rudders will hardly have moved, generating practically no drag. As the steering angle increases, the centre rudder smoothly passes the propeller wash on to the outer rudders. The rudders act like a combination that optimally deflects the passing water flow. The result is excellent manoeuvrability.
