Our most refined rudder shape ever!
Easyflow® by De Waal, the most sustainable and green rudder system that exists. Already in fall 2013, De Waal was the first to introduce this novelty on the market. No less than 5 to 15% saving on fuel! By means of a simple conversion to our Easyflow® rudder system. With unchanged behaviour when it comes to manoeuvrability. And a more silent residence. Or time gain when at full throttle. Sometimes easily 1.5 hours on certain routes. That is what we call profitable
Optimum rudder dynamics
Stuwa® Easyflow rudders are more slender than other rudder types and are located further apart. With the wheel straight ahead, the rudders are kept just outside the propeller wash, which flows much faster along the inside face of the rudder than along the outside. This creates considerable extra pressure on the inside, and lower pressure on the outside. The patented Easyflow aerofoil converts this pressure difference into extra thrust. And because the trailing end of the rudder blade has hardly any curves, the built-up extra thrust is not disturbed. Optimised ship dynamics!
We will get the best performance from your ship!
Together with you, the engineers at De Waal will look at other aspects of your ship. What is the shape of the stern? Is any of the propeller wash escaping over the top of the rudders? Can we fit a flat trimming board? These and many other issues will be uncovered if you will allow us to give you our view on your ship, free of obligations. We will be happy to join you on board or to raise your ship in our ship lift, free of charge, for a well-funded opinion.
Convert now and start saving immediately
Follow our 1-2-3 step-by-step plan. Measure. Convert. Save. You will be pleasantly surprised by the result. Every customer who decides to have his rudder system converted, will get an exhaustive test form from us, listing a whole range of parameters and ship’s data to cover a certain period. We will then convert your current rudder system to an Easyflow® system. We will even re-use many of the components. Within one working week you will be back on course. You then fill in the test list once again, and you will have objective data to show how much you are actually saving. Real-world figures don’t lie. Many masters have preceded you. Are you ready to take the plunge?

Easyflow for new ships
The Easyflow® rudder system is of course equally suitable for use in the construction of new ships, and many ship brokers and owners have taken this route. Here’s a free tip: ask De Waal to sit in on your design team at the earliest possible stage. Together we can get the best possible performance from your design.
How much would you like to save?
Lots, if De Waal has any say in the matter! Independent tests by Marin and TU Delft support us. Our patented rudder cross-section, combined with a clever rudder topology, scores top marks in every test.
