Boring is essentially the 'opposite' of turning. This technique allows us to machine very large, diverse workpieces. Whereas in turning the workpiece rotates rapidly, in boring the workpiece remains stationary and is firmly clamped onto a large 'table'.
The boring tool is mounted eccentrically on a fast-rotating shaft and makes a circular movement with the chisel point facing outwards. We distinguish between longitudinal boring and surface boring. Longitudinal boring is the deepening of an existing hole, while surface boring creates an increasingly larger circular surface in a workpiece.
We also do a lot of circular cut-off. The movable cut-off tool (quill) in combination with the movable table allows us to machine large, complex workpieces and objects on all sides. Fast and super precise. Because customisation is what De Waal is all about!
